On Friday, July 16 Jazz Innovation had our first opportunity to present at the National Auctioneers Association's annual conference at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, MN. It was great to be performing live again, especially with such fabulous musicians, and to again tell the story of American music as a model for the positive effects of diversity and inclusion on creativity. I'm told many Auctioneers are also singers, MCs, DJs and performers of other kinds so they were very receptive to the music aspect of the presentation. With so much contention in society over issues around race I think it's more important than ever to talk about artists who have been coming together, on their own initiative, for over a hundred years to create the music we love. And beyond this, there are definable principles musicians practice that anyone can learn from to gain insight into the creative process for their own purposes.
